Mobile Site

Working on a mobi site

It’s a well-established fact that cellphone based internet use in South Africa continues to surge, despite its already high base.

Many businesses are realising that an increasing number of their target market are searching for and accessing their site through cellphones. Websites not optimised for mobile devices tend to provide a very poor user experience. Is your brand being damaged by a non-existent or poor mobile site? Isn’t it time to change that?

Our Approach

One of our recently developed Mobi sites

Too often we see disparate approaches to web and mobile site design. It’s our belief that a web and mobile site needs to be integrated and complementary. The user experience needs to be consistent and intuitive, no matter which device is used to access the site. On a technical front, this means:

  • Auto redirecting through browser detection
  • Giving the user the ability to redirect to the web version of the site (and vice versa)

While from a user experience and design perspective, the mobile site needs to be tuned towards the mobile device, therefore:

  • Keeping the site lightweight and fast loading
  • Not cluttering the mobile site, displaying only the most important information, with links to read more
  • Keeping navigation simple and “list based”

As experts in Expression Engine (EE) CMS based development, we have built numerous integrated CMS web and mobile sites. The benefit to the content administrator is that they administer content from one backend, content being shared amongst both sites with the ability to manage web or mobile specific content where required.

Our usability experts also guide the designers and developers along the way, resulting in slick, intuitive and easily manageable web and mobile sites.
